End Grain Construction Style
End Grain construction style has a unique character that can only be achieved with
wood. End Grain fits well with traditional and farmhouse kitchen design and gives the look of a “chopping block”. Often designers and architects will utilize End Grain
worktops in a portion of an island as a functional focal point of the design. Because end grain is presented on the top of the work surface, this style is ideal if you plan to cut directly on the counter. Cuts and scratches hide well and can even close back up due to wood’s natural properties. The minimum thickness for End Grain style is 3” for stability and special accommodations must be made for extended overhang. Maximum thickness is 6”, but thicker options are possible upon special request.
